Treat Your Business Like a Job?
That is NOT what I have been taught! I was not taught to treat your business like a job.
You have probably been taught that as an online marketer or as a network marketer that you need to treat your business as an entrepreneur and not as an employee. I have even taught that at times. An entrepreneur has a mindset that is beneficial to building a business. As many employees are used to being employees, they don’t have that same mindset. They are used to being employees.
Let’s look at that philosophy of treating your business like a business from a different angle. A different perspective.
Because maybe…..sometimes…..you SHOULD treat your business like a job! Or as an employee!
Now Why would I Say to Treat Your Business Like a Job?
When you are an employee, you have an employer that has certain expectations of you. You are expected to be at work at a certain time. You can leave work at a certain time. Your job has regular hours, and you are expected to be at work during those hours.
Also, your job requires certain requirements or responsibilities that are expected to be accomplished by you. Some of those duties you may not like. You may not like them at all! But, you do them, right?
If your boss asks you to do some things that don’t quite fit into your comfort zone, you do them anyway. At least you do if you expect to get paid or to remain at that job.
Your performance evaluations or reviews may very well reflect on whether you did those unlikeable duties or not. Which in turn, could affect your chance of promotion, pay, or even whether you continue to work there or not!
You are expected to come to work even if you don’t feel 100 percent. An excuse of “I just don’t feel like coming to work today and doing my duties” won’t fly with your boss. Because your attendence at work is expected no matter what your mental or emotional state of mind is.
So…..with your network marketing business….
Maybe you should think of your business like an employee would think about his job. Treat your business like a job.
If you plan on only working your business when you feel like it or whenever you want to, your business is going to suffer.
Treat your business as you would your job. Show up when you are supposed to show up! And do the duties and responsibilities no matter how much you dislike doing them. Set some regular hours and stick to those hours. Do what is expected of you during those hours even if you don’t want to.
If you dislike talking to potential clients or customers…..guess what? You are going to have to do it anyway, whether you like it or not.
Think of your network marketing business as a job that someone is paying you to do.
Have some accoutability. Just as your employer might give you an annual evaluation or review, evaluate yourself. Think about how you are doing in your business. Review what you are doing well and what you need to work on.
